Two people have been seriously injured due to a fire that happened at a Flat in the seaside Town of Brixham. Three fire engines from Brixham and Paignton fought the blaze at the block of flats opposite the Golden Lion pub on New Road, the main road in and out of the Town. It was reported that smoke and flames were emanating from the blazing building when two fire crews and the Ambulance Service arrived on the scene. Devon and Cornwall Police helicopter and Devon Air Ambulance were also called to the fire.
In a statement, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said they were called at 10.45am on Saturday (October 17): “One fire engine from Brixham and two fire engines from Paignton were quickly mobilised to the scene.”
“On arrival crews reported smoke and flames issuing from the property. Crews used six breathing apparatus, one positive pressure ventilation fan, one thermal imaging camera, one hose reel jet, and one safety jet.”
“Crews also used one carbon monoxide monitor and one first aid kit. One casualty was treated by fire crews and was removed to hospital via ambulance. A second casualty was treated on scene for possible carbon monoxide exposure.”
“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
