It has been reported that the popular bar and restaurant Appleby’s in Torquay has been forced to close its doors under the instruction of NHS Track and Trace. Appleby’s, Torquay has posted a ‘Temporary Closure Notice’ on its website and Facebook page. Track and trace have advised a person attending Appleby’s Saturday 26/09/20 has tested positive. The Heritage Hotel, which is part of the same business has not been affected.
The notice states that Appleby’s will be closed as of 30th September 2020 whilst the bar and restaurant undergo extensive cleaning and that this has been advised by NHS Track and Trace. The venue goes on to say “Our bar and Restaurant has been temporarily been closed to the public, we want to ensure we take every precaution to ensure the welfare of our staff and customers alike.
Proprietor Dominic Kirkup told Jay Richards for Riviera FM, in a telephone interview: “Yesterday Morning, we found out that somebody had tested positive, we then had a meeting immediately. We then spoke to various government bodies, the Council. When we read into it, we basically had two staff that had worked that weekend, which is obviously my busiest period. We were left with no choice but to close and they were told they had to go home and self-isolate for 14 days”
