Daytime Live

The sound track to your day

About Me: I was born and bred in Manchester and I’m definitely a Lancashire Lass! I moved to Cheshire when I married and then to Torbay in 1997. I worked in the Bibliographical Services Unit for Stockport Libraries but my great love has always been singing. I sang for 16 years in a ladies barbershop chorus – we were British champions and one of the many highlights was singing at the Barbican in London alongside the King Singers and also singing in a concert in Utrecht. I have sung in local choirs including the Big Noise Chorus where we sang rock, pop etc. and had the most amazing experience in 2019 where we sang in Exeter Cathedral. I was also a Samaritan for eight years and a New Samaritan Trainer and mentor – I think it’s very important that people talk openly about their thoughts and feelings and I found the work very rewarding, the training also helps when we interview guests on our shows. I was a co-presenter on the Riviera FM Recovery Show for four years with Dave Evitts and also co presented the Hobbies Show with Mike Webster. I now present Daytime Live on Tuesdays between 1 and 4pm where I like to talk about local history – one of my passions. I also present Daytime Live on Mondays with Mike Abbot which is great fun. I mostly play sixties, seventies and eighties music.

Passions: I’m passionate about local history and I have also researched my family history – my family were part of the industrial revolution in Manchester of which I am very proud.

Favourite Music/Artists: I love music from all eras, but I particularly like the sixties, seventies, eighties, jazz and country music also a passion. My favourite artists – there are so many – but to pick out a few – Elton John, Queen, The Beatles, ABBA and harmony groups like the Everly Brothers and the Beach Boys.

Hobbies: I’m an avid reader, love doing research into anything and everything, constantly listen to music and I support my local theatre and cinema.

Favourite things: Walking around our beautiful bay.
