Paul Swainson
About Me: I started my working life as a Aircraft Engineer and Toolmaker at British Aerospace, and then had a lucky break joining Philips Records as a salesman, eventually reaching the position of Product and Marketing Manager responsible for promoting artists such as David Bowie, Manfred Man, Dusty Springfield, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich, Rod Stewart, and Scott Walker along with many other amazing artists on the Philips, Fontana, Mercury and Vertigo labels. I then joined BASF as National Sales Manager and Music Manager before leaving to start my own Film Production Company in the mid 70s. Moviemaker Film & Television Productions produced news, drama and factual items for the BBC, ITV and many tv commercials, drama, documentary and educational films over a period of 30 years. I sold the company aged 55 and moved to Bergerac in France, where my wife Mave and I owned a small hotel for 15 years, before finally retiring to Torquay to be close to family and friends. I am now amusing myself organising and producing Riviera FM’s ‘Harbour Bay’, a ten part radio drama series and also preparing information for the Riviera FM website.
Passions: Music, photography and theatrical drama production.
Favourite Music/Artists: All music with a good theme, soul, pop, rock, jazz and classical. Artists such as Karen Carpenter, Dusty Springfield, Micheal Jackson, Bee Gees and everything Motown.
Hobbies: Filming, creating the drama series ‘Harbour Bay’, walking and visiting National Trust properties.
Favourite Things: My wonderful wife, amazing children and grandchildren.
