RIVIERA FM SWITCHES ON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!!

Written by on 01/12/2020

The Torquay Christmas lights have now been switched on. The switch on had to be kept a secret in order to prevent large gatherings.  Riviera FM turned the Christmas lights on live on air with BBC Spotlight.

The lights came on around 6:30pm and run the full length of the high street from the top of Torquay Town, Union street, through down to the lower half of fleet street. Santa’s grotto will also open this coming Saturday 5th December, but tickets must be booked online.

The lights were switched on by Riviera FM staff and Torbay Hospital Radio were also invited to join in. The switch-on was a huge success. Torquay has been waiting for it’s Christmas lights to go up and be switched on for a number of weeks now.  Due to COVID-19 the date kept changing and moving closer towards Christmas, with some members of the community having concerns that Torquay wouldn’t get Christmas illuminations this year.
