About me: I have enjoyed music from a very early age. In fact I was a semi-professional entertainer from the age of 14, so I understand, first-hand, how important it is for our young people to be able to have space to express themselves through music. I became a pro-musician at approx. the age of 19 and spent ten years travelling around the world entertaining in various hotels, bars, restaurants and night-clubs. I moved to the Bay in 1989 and after marrying Jackie we successfully ran the Dainton Hotel and Restaurant in Goodrington, along with her mum and dad, Brian and Jeanette and the team of staff. After selling the hotel in August 2000, Jackie and I set up a catering business which focuses on event catering selling hot roast pork and turkey rolls at many of the events across Devon and the UK. I have been an elected Councillor on Torbay Council since 2017 and I enjoy all aspects of working with and representing my local community. I am very new to radio presenting and only arrived at the station during the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020, although I had worked with a number of the presenters through my role as one of the driving forces behind Paignton Regatta’s – 9 days of family fun on Paignton Green.
Passions: My newly found passion is presenting local radio – I see this as an extension to the work I do as a councillor. It is great to be able to use a different medium to get important information out quickly to the Bay’s residents. I still enjoy entertaining (in it’s many forms) and still love to play keyboards and organ.
Favourite music/artists: I am found of all musical genre as long as it has a ‘tune’. If a piece of music simply focuses on a repetitive beat – then count me out! I am also very fond of musicals and love live theatre (in all it’s formats)
Hobbies/interests: Entertaining, Music, Computers, Theatre, Learning new skills, Organising Events, All things community
Favourite things: Food, Travelling, Learning, Spending time with family. Socialising.
